It is not new that the G event circuit changes depending on the continent in which it takes place. Europe has the most competitive circuit with a large number of ranked championships, while Pan Am region, for example, has very few and practically zero in the southern part of that continental union.

Much has been claimed about how expensive it is to carry out a G ranked event, so we decided to talk to different organizers and those who wanted to host them and indeed we discovered that the majority mentioned very high costs and that they varied from each other.

 

What is the actual cost of the WT GMS license?

How many G1 ranked events can each continental union have in a year?

There are no restrictions on the number of G1 events per continent.

 

How many G2 events can each continental union have in a year?

Maximum three G2 events per continent.

 

How much are the recognition fees for a G1 event?

USD 5,000.

 

How much are the recognition fees for a G2 event?

USD 10,000 as of 2020.

 

What other fee does the Organizing Committee (OC) have to pay for a G event?

They do not have to pay any additional fees to WT or the Continental Union (CU).

 

Is the Organizing Committee responsible for tickets, room and board for any Council Members of WT and / or CU?

No, it is not a WT requirement for a G1 or G2 event.

 

Is the Organizing Committee responsible for the tickets, room and board of the presidents and / or general secretary generals of the continental unions?

No, it is not a WT requirement for a G1 or G2 event.

 

Are there other costs to host a G1 or G2 event?

The general costs for G1 /G2 are no different than any other sports events like leasing fee for venue, room and board for referees, Supervisory Board (CSB), Technical Delegate (TD), and technical service providers, transportation fees, technical service fees, per diem… etc.
