There are four nominated Paralympic athletes from other sports, however, Jean Claude, is one of the favorites.

Niringiyimana won the Para-Taekwondo African Open in the -66kg category, K44 division.

The vote is open to the public login in at Once logged in you will find at the right side of the screen a column showing the nominated athletes. Then you just have to click on Niringiyimana’s box and it’s done; your vote has gone to him.

Early in the morning, Niringiyama led the election with more than 40 percent votes in favor, according to the data provided by ProPofs, site that keeps the voting statistics

The other nominated Paralympic athletes practice sports like ice hockey, table tennis and athletics.

Voting is available until May 9 and Niringiyimana needs your vote. The voting process it takes no more than 30 seconds.

The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) received the news very enthusiastically since the fact that a Para Taekwondo athlete is nominated by the International Paralympic Committee means huge advance for the sport.

Next October, the World Para-Taekwondo Championship will be held in London.

WTF efforts to promote Taekwondo around the world are unceasing and every day much more people are practicing it. In March 2016, Para Taekwondo was included in the Pan American program for Lima 2019, a news that was received with much satisfaction as four months before, the IPC had accepted the WTF as a official member.
