Dr. Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Federation informed all its affiliated members that the WTF has been working together with International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability – INAS- since 2013 to “provide Para-taekwondo athletes (P20) with an intellectual disability the best opportunities possible to compete at a high international level”.
Choue also informed that Para-Taekwondo Poomsae has been confirmed as a demonstration competition of the 2015 INAS Global Games to be held in Quito, Ecuador on September 20-27, 2015. The Poomsae competition will see action on September 24.
“It is my hope that all WTF Member National Associations take this opportunity to send athletes to the Games as entries are limited” urged Choue in his invitation.
Athletes wishing to participate in the event need to hold a valid WTF Licence, have INAS provisional eligibility and be entered for the Games through a INAS member organization. The registration deadline is August 1, 2015.
It is expected that featuring the Poomsae competition will help this discipline to be included as a core sport in the INAS World Games in the future.
