Green light to the WTF Para-Taekwondo Ranking

International - 2015/01/13 - WTF President Choue Chungwon informed about the events that will award points to the WTF Para-Taekwondo Ranking.  A few days before the International Paralympic Committee takes the decision on the future of this discipline, the Para-Taekwondo strengthens its structure. The president of the World Taekwondo Federation Chungwon Choue sent a statement to all  MNA´s informing about the calendar of events that will award points to the Para-Taekwondo Ranking, with the intention to strengthen and develop this discipline.


The following competitions will award world ranking points in 2015:

  • 2015 Canada Para-Taekwondo Open G1
  • 1st African Para-Taekwondo Championships G4/G2*
  • 1st Asian Para-Taekwondo Championships G4/G2*
  • 4th European Para-Taekwondo Championships G4/G2*
  • 1st Russian Para-Taekwondo Open G1
  • 4th Pan American Para-Taekwondo Championships G4/G2*
  • 2015 IWAS World Games G2

Continental championships will be open to participation from all continents. G4 points will be awarded to athletes from pertinent continent and G2 points for athletes from other continents.

“All MNAs should do their utmost to develop Para-taekwondo within their MNA and I look forward to your active participation in the 2015 world ranking Para-taekwondo events and I encourage your participation in the Continental Para-Taekwondo Championships for the worldwide development of Para-taekwondo” said Choue.

Registrations are currently under way for the 2015 Canada Para-Taekwondo Open to be held February 13-15, 2015 in Toronto, Canada. Dates and location for all the championships can be found in the WTF Event Calendar shortly.

A few days before we know if Para-Taekwondo will be part of the the Paralympic Program, the WTF advances another step in the development of this discipline. We will keep you posted about any further details on this issue.
