The Australian Sports Commission has now formally recognized the merge of the Sports Taekwondo Australia (STA) and Taekwondo Australia Ltd. (TA) as the governing body of Taekwondo in the country.

The Board members announced the appointment of Mr John Walker as the independent chairperson of the merged Board. John Walker comes from very distinguished business background.

The first meeting of the unified Board will take place in Melbourne on 21st September 2014.
The 2014 National Championships will be jointly run by STA and TA and will be open to all members. The championships will be held in Adelaide , 5th – 7th December at the Super-Drome.

STA and TA, who both originally claimed the responsibility to run the Taekwondo in Australia, signed an agreement last November to join forces.  As previous said, their first meeting as a unified body will take place in Melbourne next Sunday, September 21, 2014.
