Runway fashion and modified headgears, the surprises for the Cadet Championships first edition

The 1st WTF World Cadet Taekwondo Championships will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on July 24-27, 2014, and it is bringing last minute surprises for all.  Find out what is it about, here! masTaekwondo.com ESPAÑOL

The event will bring together, for the first time, youngsters from 12 to 14 years in Baku, Azerbaijan; and will represent the first international competition for a lot of young athletes whose dream is to become a high performance athlete… and it is coming with a big surprise.

Part of the official statement of the WTF says:  “Athletes at the 1st WTF World Cadet Taekwondo Championships are aged 12-14 years old. After carefully considering the recommendation of the WTF Medical Committee and the young age of the athletes the WTF has decided that the Championships will use head protectors with a visor for the safety of the athletes. The head protectors will be provided for all athletes at the Championships”

Another big surprise for this event is the WTF´s requirement to all coaches:  “We kindly request that all coaches wear suit and tie when they are coaching on the field of play” says the official letter.

It seems this would be the “test” event of this new WTF requirement looking to use this formality in future official events to give an image of “professionalism” and “class” to the eyes of the world.

People´s opinions arrived immediately and one says “How will coaches look wearing suit and working shoes while trying to help their athletes to warm up before a competition?”…Bizarre…isnt it?

  1. Headgears with plexiglas mask are OK (we use normally in Italy for Cadets B class = 10-11 years old) but dressing a jacket with tie?..no, thanks…10 hours in a sport hall wearing a jacket and tie! Tournaments with 10 or more competition areas? 3 days tournaments we need 3 shirts, 3 jackets…maybe for national delegations, continental or world championsip that’s right but regional, national or international open championship is really impossible
