Sarah Stevenson, who won a bronze medal for taekwondo in the 2008 Olympic Games and became World Champion in 2011, is backing the Time For Tea campaign in aid of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity. Posted thestar.co.uk.
The 30-year-old, from Bentley, Doncaster, was inspired to get involved after losing her mum Diane and dad Roy to cancer.
Sarah hosted a tea party alongside fellow Olympians and Team GB taekwondo athletes, and has also become a patron of the charity.
“Losing both my mum and dad to cancer in such a short space of time was extremely difficult, so to support the hospital which cared for my dad in his final months was an easy decision to make,” she said.
“Although it was such a traumatic time, the care he received, from the doctors to the support workers who made his tea, was incredible, and I will never be able to repay them for their kindness and professionalism.”
The campaign encourages people to hold tea parties, collecting donations for the good cause in the process.
