Welsh Olympic champion Jade Jones and London 2012 bronze medallist Lutalo Muhammad spearhead a formidable 14-strong Great Britain squad at next month’s ETU European Championships in Azerbaijan.

Welsh star Jones, the current world number one, was one of seven home medal winners when the event was hosted in Manchester two years.

However, after only claiming bronze on home territory last time, the 21-year-old ‘Headhunter’ is out for another title, especially after last month’s Dutch Open success.

Muhammad took gold at -87kg in Manchester and will defend his trophy when Baku hosts the 2014 edition of the Euros from May 1-4.

Mancunian and Beijing Olympian Michael Harvey also wins a chance to retain his title in the -63kg weight category.

Joining Britain’s big hitters are two of the newest additions to the GB Academy. Nicole Huntington from Ipswich and Wiganer Rachelle Booth only joined the programme last September through the Battle4Brazil, Fighting Chance initiative.

And Scot Asia Bailey, 16, has only recently returned from the World Junior Championships in Chinese Taipei where she narrowly missed a medal.
