The Youth Qualifying Tournament and the World Junior Championships will use octagonal areas

The World Taekwondo Federation has confirmed that octagonal mats will be used for the WTF World Qualifying Tournament for Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games and the 10th WTF World Junior Taekwondo Championships.

Besides starting to use brand new sensing socks, the junior athletes from all over the world will have the new experience to fight in octagonal mats, similar to the ones we have seen in different competitions sanctioned by the WTF.

As explained by the WTF Secretary General Jean-Marie Ayer, the use octagonal mats is supported by Article 2.2 of WTF Competition Rules.

This could be an indication that the octagonal areas would be used during the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
