On January 25th The Association is now Ghana Taekwondo Federation this was done at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

As per businessghana.com, the President of the Federation, Mr. Frederick Lartey Out, (6th Dan Black Belt) made this known in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday.

He explained that the change of name was in consonance with the World Taekwondo Federation‘s designation of member countries as federations.

“The term “federation” also lends a better umbrella term to the national body, considering the existence of the regional taekwondo associations and Taekwondo organizations in Ghana affiliated to the national body,” he said.

The Federation unveiled a new logo and announced its website address as part of its re-branding strategy.

Mr Out said the Federation also swore in members of its subcommittees comprising technical, referee, organising, press and public relations, disciplinary and international Taekwondo practitioners.

Following the swearing-in, a new Korean Taekwondo coach, Grand Master Kim Ki Bok, who has been seconded to Ghana by the Ministry of Culture and Athletics of the Republic of South Korea, was introduced.

The one-time coach for the Japanese Olympic Team is to take charge of the national junior team and prepare them for the 2014 August Youth Olympic Games qualification tournament in Chinese Taipei next March.

Training of the National Junior Team is to kick-start on February 1 at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Another justifier to select the National Senior Team has been slated for February 25.
