GP MANCHESTER 20130 now in Manchester

Four days before the start of what seems to be the beginning of Taekwondo evolution, the Grad Prix, in Manchester, United Kingdom from December 13 to 15, has already started the engines for this great event. ESPAÑOL



Manchester is getting ready to welcome the top 250 athletes in the World Ranking divided into 8 weight categories, all seeking to score as many points as possible to get closer to Rio  2016.

With tickets for sale since September 2, it is expected that the number of visitors will be huge.  The sessions will be divided into 3; during the day from 8 to 17 hours and during the evening from 18:30 to 21 hours.  In standard locations tickets are around 10 pounds and in Premium locations around 16 pounds. It is also possible to buy tickets for the full day at a cost of about £ 30.

With this type of marketing strategy and organization, it is expected that the Grand Prix and Taekwondo in general generate a boost and meet the WTF expectations and thereby Taekwondo becomes more solid in the Summer Olympic program.

Olympic Champion Jade Jones and UK representative who trains at Manchester said:  “It is very exciting to know that this great event will be launched for the first time here in Manchester, this is a wonderful opportunity for people to relive the echo of the Olympics last year and can appreciate and support what will be a great show of sporting talent, there is nothing better than to perform in front of a passionate local crowd.”

The Technical Director of the British Team, Gary Hall, also said: “Manchester is the home of Taekwondo in the United Kingdom, and the fact that the first Grand Prix will be here is an honor. We believe this event will become very popular and is a great opportunity for fans to see the athletes that may reach Rio 2016 Olympics.

The arrival of the teams started yesterday at the Manchester Airport, and the operations center and the venue that will host the best competition in the world is the Manchester Central. Starting today the registration process will begin.

The arrival of delegations will continue tomorrow and the training sessions will also begin.

Referees will have their technical meetings and practice on Wednesday and at the end of the day the awaited Draw of Lots will take place.
