As per an article posted by dorsetecho.co.uk, the victory, which also saw him claim the competition’s best fighter award, comes off the back of success in the Pan-American Open in Mexico back in September and completes a great period of training and competition across the Atlantic.
Next up for Cook is his first World Grand Prix in Manchester in Dec-ember, which will feature the top 35 fighters in each Olympic weight.
Following his win in Costa Rica, Cook tweeted: “I was blessed to once again take gold at the Costa Rican Open.
“Thanks for the amazing support in San Jose, really appreciate it! I was also thrilled to be awarded best male fighter.”
Since switching allegiances from GB Taekwondo to the Isle of Man, the World Taekwondo Federation has amended their Olympic selection rules so that the top six in December 2015 will automatically qualify for Rio 2016.
Cook is currently world number six but is expected to move up a place when the October rankings are published.
