2013-08-30_67375x_2012-World-Cup-Taekwondo-TeamThe World Cup Takewondo Team Championships has gone through a lot of uncertainty.  As masTaekwondo.com informed in due time (See:  NOTE)  the host country for this event has changed many times:   first Senegal, then Gabon and, finally,  the WTF Executive Council confirmed during their meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland last June that Ivory Coast would be the host country.

Various misfortunes have conspired to make this event unstable.  This time, at the same meeting held in Lausanne, the WTF Executive Council approved removing the WTF World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships from the list of events receiving WTF ranking points.  However, due to this fact, only 6 male and 6 female teams have confirmed their participation in this year’s world cup.

Based on the few participant teams, it can be inferred that the WTF Executive Council’s decision was not  the best because the only and main reason why the National Associations  attend this type of competitions is the ranking points their athletes can sum up to the WTF Ranking.

President Dr. Chungwon Choue himself has decided to make the proposal to his Executive Council to urgently include again the WTF World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships in the list of events that grant Ranking Points as the cup is coming soon and the National Associations need time to plan in advance to attend it.

The call for E-Vote was sent by the Taekwondo governing body leader  inviting council members to support his position by sending their respective votes on Wednesday, September 4 at 23:59 Korea  Time.

Will the rough road of the WTF World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships soon end?  Will this event be successful as the WTF expects?  Judge for yourself.
