This past Thursday, the WTF Para-Taekwondo Committee held a meeting, days before the 4th World Championship of this discipline. This year´s participation doubles the previous events, having 86 competitors who will be evaluated by the WTF Medical Commission tomorrow to fully define the categories in the competition.
At the meeting, important executives were present: Jean-Marie Ayer , WTF Secretary General, Olaf Hansson, WTF Executive, Tae Eun Lee (Canada), Para-Taekeondo Committee President, Fernando Akilian (Argentina), Michael Sirota (Canada) and Paul Viscogliosi (Francia), Members of the Para-Taekwondo Committee.
On the other hand, the WTF invited to attend the meeting to Mr. Koos Engelbrecht, President of the International Association for Cerebral Palsy Recreational Sports and other executives of this association.
Some of the important issues discussed in the meeting were the inclusion of other disabilities in the Para-Taekwondo competition, requirements to be included as a Demonstration Sport at the Paralympics Games in 2020, diffusion Para-Taekwondo in the different national association, and the strategies to promote this discipline.
