President of  Indonesian Taekwondo Asscociation (PBTI), Marciano Norman says, the championship became the official agenda of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and followed by dozens of Asian countries.

“Under the supervision of the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) as the Asian regional taekwondo organizations, the event is held on a regular basis for two years,” said Marciano when he led the national training taekwondo athletes in PopkiSport Center  Indonesia, Jakarta.

27 Countries member of Asian Taekwondo Union registered, 346 athletes will show their best talent in Kyorugi and Poomsae (recognize and freestyle).

He explained that BRI championship is for teenagers aged 15 to 17 years. “This event is very potential to develop the talents and abilities of national athletes. We hope to be a good host and achievement.”

PBTI is now busy preparing athletes. In addition to the Asian Junior Taekwondo Championship, PBTI also will prepare the World Taekwondo Championship athletes heading in October-November in Bali. In addition, there are also the SEA Games in Myanmar in December.

“Obviously, Taekwondo Indonesia will make every effort possible to achieve the goals, so we can put high the name of the nation,” said Marciano.

Marciano added that the 7th Asian Junior Taekwondo Championship is also a test event and serves as a parameter to see athlete achievement, for the Poomsae World Championships to be held the end of 2013 in Bali.

“Efforts to improve the performance are also a major program in order PBTI Road to Olympic 2016. As known, taekwondo is a sport which is favored to gain a medal at the world grand sporting event, the 2016 Olympics,” he added.

He also highly appreciated the role of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, which has given the maximum support for the organization of this prestigious event.

“The implementation of this championship is inseparable from the participation and strong support from the Bank BRI exclusive sponsorship. Commitment to the success of this event is a tangible manifestation of an active and positive participation in national sports coaching,” he explained.

On the other hand Bank BRI President Director Sofyan Basir said the active support of the national sports coaching has become a major commitment to it. This active participation is a contribution to the realization of the state-owned banks in promoting the national sport.
