Juan Manuel Lopez, president of the Mexican Taekwondo Federation (FMTKD), said that after obtaining the approval of Jesus Mena, who is the CEO of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sport, regarding the request to host such event, it is almost a fact that Mexico will host the event for there is no other nation interested in organizing it.
Originally Querétaro had offered to host the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, but afterwards Aguascalientes was chosen, Jesus Garcia Campos, head of the Sports Institute of the state, signed a Coordination and Collaboration Agreement with CONADE and FMTKD to promote the sport in that state.
“The World Taekwondo Federation is very interested to make the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Mexico, we would be the second country in America to organize it, the requirements are not as stringent as those for Puebla, the date is set by us and we are planning it between September and November of next year.”
“It is also possible that Poomsae is included in the Central American and Caribbean Games, Veracruz 2014, Carlos Padilla informed us that it is very likely to be included as an official test,” said Lopez Delgado.
The seventh World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship was held last year in Tunja, Colombia, and this year the 18th edition will be held in Bali, Indonesia from October 31 to November 3.
