Around 1,200 athletes coming from 50 nations will meet in Hamburg this Saturday and Sunday. The tournament takes place for the sixth time in the Hanseatic city.

Germany is expecting that her Olympic bronze medalist, Helena Fromm will have a good come back as she underwent a meniscus operation last November.  “I am already in good shame” said the 25 year-old athlete. She hopes this event will help her to get into competition, as her ultimate goal is to be in excellent physical conditions for the World Championships July in Mexico.

According to information issued by the World Taekwondo Federation, the German Open will not award points for the World Ranking, a surprise to athletes and coaches that were waiting to add points to their ranking; the 2012 German Open awarded ranking points.
