Taekwondo Summit Meeting in Munich

Last Saturday the President of the German Taekwondo Union (DTU), Mr. Heinz Gruber, invited Dr. Thomas Bach, President of German Olympic Sports Confederation and Vice President of the International Olympic Committee as well as representatives of highest Taekwondo Federations Dr. Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and Athanasios Pragalos, President of the European Taekwondo Union (ETU) for a colloquy in Munich.

Further participants of this round of talks were the Secretary General of the WTF, Mr. Jean-Marie Ayer and two Vice Presidents of the DTU, Mr. Musa Cicek and Mr. Gerd Kohlhofer.


The chief contents of these discussions were the development of Taekwondo in Germany and Taekwondo as an Olympic discipline. Dr. Thomas Bach expressed his appreciation regarding the positive progress of this martial art. Towards the Presidents of the WTF and ETU he pointed out the fine process of Taekwondo within the Federal Republic of Germany under the Presicency of Heinz Gruber. Furthermore he made suggestions how to stabilise Taekwondo as an Olympic discipline.


The talk took place at Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. After two hours all participants of this colloquy were pleased and the discussions were finished. Dr. Thomas Bach assured Heinz Gruber that he will stay in touch and continue to talk about the future progression of Taekwondo.
