“But I think it was a blessing in disguise. I have things to work on now and make sure I am 100 percent right for the Olympics.”
“Two years on it’s amazing to think that was my first Youth Olympics and now, here I am going to my first senior Games. It will be something special.
“I got hooked on the Olympics watching Beijing in 2008. And I remember thinking I wanted to there and part of it. And now I will be.
“I try and imagine what it’s going to be like when I go out for my first fight.
“But I still don’t think it will be anything like I am expecting at the moment. I just can’t wait. Friends and family have got their tickets so they’re excited by the thought of coming to watch me.”
“I can definitely win a medal. We have the best staff here, the best training and the best preparation. So, if I am on my game I know I can win a medal.”
GARY HALL ON JADE JONES:
“Jade has done a superb job. She didn’t get the results she wanted at the Europeans recently but still picked up a bronze and she has medalled in everything else. She is in a great place to maximise the new touch rule to the head plus she is hard as nails.
“Don’t forget she is still a young girl. She is the current Youth Olympic champion and in London she will be going for the Olympic senior title. It’s a great story and there won’t be too many like Jade competing in London.”
